what is death, love, & birthdays about?

When his estranged grandfather suddenly dies, 17-year-old Casey (Tate Padgett) is forced to return with his mother Rachel (Stephanie Rhobotham) to his birth town of Gainesville, Georgia. The result is a reunion with their relatives: deeply Southern single mom Heather (Mary Beverly-Bruce), burnt-out, perfectionist high school senior Isabelle (Brooke Rhobotham), and depressed business major Ezra (Logan Moseley). As family tensions and dirty laundry begin to surface, long-standing family dynamics are threatened and new bonds begin to form.

Director’s Statement

Death, Love, & Birthdays is the biggest, most personal, and most challenging project I’ve ever taken on. Artistically, technically, and emotionally, it’s the culmination of everything I’ve learned since I first started making movies.

I’m very lucky to have been continually surrounded by kind and talented people: without the cast, crew, and donors who participated in Death, Love, & Birthdays, the film’s production would not have been possible.

It’s hard to believe it’s finally time to share this film with the world. I can’t wait for you to see it.
